That said, the particular types of data gathered and the particular types of decision desired should have a large impact on the particular data mining technology selected. Indeed, the policy concerns surrounding data gathering and decision making can and should have a strong impact on the design of any given data mining system. Those impacts will be the focus of much of the rest of this talk.
