- Even if a user's files are unprotected, it is
improper for another user to read them.
- cmu_computing_ethics.policy
- All files belong to somebody. They should
be assumed to be private and confidential unless the owner has
explicitly made them available to others.
- cmu_data_confidentiality.policy
- Any university employee, student or
non-university individual with access to administrative data who
engages in unauthorized use, disclosure, alteration or destruction of
data in violation of this policy will be subject to appropriate
disciplinary action, including possible dismissal and/or legal action.
- cmu_degree_withdrawal.policy
- The university reserves the right to
withdraw a degree even though it has been granted should there be
discovery that the work upon which it was based or the academic
records in support of it had been falsified. In such a case the
degree will be withdrawn promptly upon discovery of the falsification.

academic or financial fraud in any form including fabrication or
falsification of data or attendance records; theft of materials,
supplies, or ideas; plagiarism; or deliberate interference with the

DATE OF ISSUANCE: Policy was issued originally in August 1976 and was
revised in July 1986. The policy appears as part of the current
Registrar's Office Procedures Manual.
