VA Attorney-General says court clerks do not have statutory authority to place public documents, such as court records, on the Internet for public reading. Jack Kennedy, Circuit Court Clerk for Wise Co., with the Virginia Coalition for Open Government, is planning to push for legislative changes in 1997 specifically authorizing the clerks to make public info available on the Net.
