The California Department of Education (CDE) proudly announces the 
addition of its new gopher server to the Internet.  The server can be 
reached by gophering to "goldmine.cde.ca.gov" (165.74.7.50).  We are 
part of the National School Network Testbed Project, an NSF-funded project
conducted by Bolt Beranek and Newman, Inc. (BBN).

The categories of CDE public information now online with search 
capabilities are as follows:

Advisories
Charter Schools
Curriculum
Directories
Finance
Legislation
News and Announcements
Publications
Special Education
State Board Highlights
Technology Planning Guide

Goldminers will also have the ability to access other K-12 outside 
resources from the main menu by going to the BBN server directory, 
California School Districts and Other Information Services.

Please understand that this server is still under construction and not 
every category contains information at this time.  But we do 
appreciate your comments and suggestions as to how we may 
improve our service.  Send your communication to the System
