This is a short page of information about the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Bill in the United Kingdom. It is a particularly draconian measure and deserves attention, particularly in the UK but by all of us given the way ideas spread from nation to nation. These type of things have been talked about in the U.S. but have been beaten back up to now by organizations such as EFF, the ACLU, EPIC and many others.
The RIP bill has many problems. One could be imprisoned for not producing an encryption key. The Government will have a center where it can intercept all electronic communication at the flip of a switch. ISP's will have to facilitate this at their own expense.
