What EFF Is Doing to Protect Online Speech

EFF works to shape the law to protect your rights through impact litigation. Following is a sampling of cases we've been fighting to defend freedom of speech on the Internet:

Apple v. Does - EFF is representing online journalists to defend the reporter's privilege, challenging subpoenas from Apple Computer seeking the identity of the journalists' confidential sources for articles about Apple products.

Barrett v. Rosenthall - EFF filed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting the federal Section 230 immunity for a USENET user posting.

OPG v. Diebold - EFF successfully prosecuted the first case against abusive copyright claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Doe Anonymity Cases - EFF has participated in multiple "Doe" cases to defend the right to speak anonymously on the Internet.
