(This README has not been revised in a long time and, as there are now other sources, it is kept around mostly for historical purposes.) * See /pub/Net_info/EFF_Net_Guide/neguide.faq for more detailed info! * If you want a plain text version of the EFF's Guide to the Internet, get /pub/Net_info/EFF_Net_Guide/netguide.eff A DOS text version is ZIPed up in netgd?_?.zip, mainly for sysops. It has cr/lf's at the end of each line instead of just lf's, so other DOS users may want to grab it. Note that if you transfer ASCII files in ASCII instead of binary mode from our system directly to a DOS telenet/ftp client, it should convert lf to cr/lf for you automagically. For AmigaGuide, TeX DVI, TeXinfo, GNU Info, WWW/HTML, Windows .HLP, PostScript, Mac, GeoWorks Write, etc., versions, look in the Other_versions directory. This directory also contains another ASCII text version, based on the TeXinfo implementation; this is the EFF's (Extended) Guide to the Internet, and includes several appendices. The Cyberpoet's Guide to Virtual Culture, which is in the /pub/Net_info/Guidebooks/Cyberpoets_Guide/ directory, as cyberpoet.gvc, will probably be of interest to you as well. It presents a sort of "Lesson Two" for the beginner, and should be explored after the EFF Guide. For more detailed info, get pub/Net_info/EFF_Net_Guide/netguide.faq, which is the EFF's Guide to the Internet Frequently Asked Questions (& Answers) file. Happy net.surfing!
