CyberWire Dispatch, officially launched in January of this year, has rapidly gained recognition as a hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners news service that concentrates on issues relevant to Cyberspace. Dispatch now has its own mailing list: CWD-L@CYBERWERKS.COM Dispatch is written by Brock N. Meeks as a free service for the Net community at large. Dispatch offers commentary, investigations and hard news relevant to issues of the day. Meeks brings to Dispatch his skills as a daily reporter with more than 10 of experience on the Internet. To produce Dispatch he uses the same journalistic guidelines and ethics have brought him journalism awards in 7 of the last 10 years, including a National Press Club journalism prize awarded him last week. Using his reporting and investigative skills to dig into the murky, often confusing waters awash on the Internet today, Brock's Dispatch articles often bring these stories to the Net well ahead of the major daily newspapers. A sampling of the stories Dispatch has broken this year: -- Investigation into the International Internet Association -- Renewed push by FBI for its Digital Wiretap bill -- Clinton Administration's support for "front loading" information superhighway with eavesdropping technologies -- Flaws in the FBI's confidential cost/analysis of its Wiretap bill -- FBI plans to install "easy access" wiretap software on telephone network -- Clinton Administration's Plan to back FBI wiretap bill -- National Security Agency withheld from public known flaws in Clipper Chip Until now, however, Dispatch has had only limited distribution, depending instead on its readers to circulate the articles throughout the Net. With today's announcement, Dispatch now has its own mailing list, with back issues archived on gopher and World-Wide Web servers at Liberty Hill Cyberwerks. These are accessible by typing: gopher cyberwerks.com and choosing "CyberWire Dispatch, by Brock N. Meeks" or by opening the URL http://cyberwerks.com:70/1/cyberwire from within your favorite Web browser. The Dispatch mailing list is ONE WAY, receive ONLY. That means when you subscribe, you get only the news. No noise. No cross-talk, no chatter. You can send feedback directly to Brock at "brock@well.sf.ca.us" for comments or questions. Dispatch is distributed free of charge. To subscribe, send a message to majordomo@cyberwerks.com with subscribe cwd-l as the first line of your message.
