POLICY TITLE: Privacy Rights of Students DATE OF ISSUANCE: Policy was issued originally in August 1976 and was revised in July 1986. The policy appears as part of the current Registrar's Office Procedures Manual. DISCLOSURE OF DIRECTORY INFORMATION Carnegie Mellon University has designated directory information to be: 1. Student's full name, campus or local address, local telephone number, class, department, college of enrollment, dates of attendance, date(s) of graduation, degree(s) awarded. 2. For those students participating in intercollegiate athletic events, personally identifiable information included as directory information is the sport of participation, height and weight. RIGHT TO FILE COMPLAINTS: In the event a student feels that Carnegie Mellon University has not complied with the Privacy of Parents and Students, Section 438 of the General Educational Provisions Act, Tile IV, of Public Law 90-247 as amended, the student has the right to file such a complaint with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Office (FERPA), Department of Health, Education and Welfare, 330 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20201.
