On one of "Speranza's" messages to Aaron, she lists an email address (speranza@oberon.pps.pgh.pa.us). Finger reports a valid "Carolyn Speranza" there. And her nonexistent address (speranza@hamlet.phyast.pitt.edu) could appear that way because of a broken or unfriendly finger daemon. I know of two CMU Rimm accounts: ECE and Andrew. I don't have an ECE account, so I can't check anything in that department. I checked the wtmp files for the general-purpose Andrew unix servers, and neither he nor Speranza logged in Saturday or Sunday. But he could have used a private Andrew office machine or his ECE account if he wanted to telnet around. >From the tone of some of Speranza's messages she could be just upset. And scared for her professional reputation, which may have been a bit sullied by her association with Rimm and his handbook of pornography... Additional Speranza messages appeared shortly after the first one did; I've attached them below.
