From: libhalc@cml.indstate.edu (Hal Cheney) Subject: Game Playing Message-ID: Date: Tue, 15 Feb 1994 19:31:34 GMT I have tried to get information about games playing from the EFF archives. The archive-manager has told me that at this time a problem with the archive-server prevents this. At Indiana State University, we are looking afresh at the problem of game playing -- especially interactive game playing over the Internet -- at University microcomputer lab work- stations. The following is a first draft of A STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES on APPROPRIATE USE OF COMPUTER FACILITIES to guide our consideration of this situation. Comments? DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT 1. The computer and telecommunications facilities of the Indiana State University are resources supported by public funds and by student tuition and fees and are intended to support the scholarly mission of the University. 2. The President, Vice-Presidents, and other Administrators are stewards of the resources of the University and are responsible for their appropriate use. This responsibility extends to the establishment of appropriate use policies and procedures, and for the enforcement of these policies and procedures within the University community. 3. The University is a community of scholars -- faculty, students, and administrators -- all of whom have an interest in the appropriate use of computer and telecommunications facilities, and whose concerns must be considered in the development of policies and procedures for appropriate use.
