Aldea NetPages Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) 1. What are NetPages? With 20 million Internet users, it is "harder than heck" to find e-mail addresses or electronic contact information for businesses and organizations on "the Net." NetPages solves this problem by providing a directory service similar to a phone book for the Internet. NetPages lists email addresses of individuals and businesses either on the Internet or reached through an Internet gateway. All listings are voluntary and verified for accuracy. NetPages has both a white pages sections for individual listings and a yellow pages section for business contact information. 2. How do I get the NetPages? The first edition of NetPages will be available for free in March 1994. Send e-mail to np-list@aldea.com to be added to the NetPages mailing list. Hardcopies of NetPages will also be distributed at major trade shows and by postal mail. 3. How do I enter my name? For a free listing in the White Pages section of NetPages, send the following form to np-add@aldea.com. All information included is up to you. 4. Can I enter my whole company or organization? Yes, you can enter your whole company. Just give Aldea permission and we'll come and get your information or provide just the addresses you want to make public. Either way you are in control of what addresses are published in NetPages. If you are interested in having your organization listed send an email message to np-admin@aldea.com to make arrangements. 5. How does Aldea collect names for NetPages? All names entered are voluntary. We solicit information via the usual Internet means - mailing lists, newsgroups, word of mouth, etc. We are also working with Internet service providers for name pointers. Your name WILL NOT be included without your permission. 6. How do I find out about updates of the Aldea NetPages? Aldea Communications will be continuously updating the listings in the NetPages directory. If you would like to receive updated versions of NetPages, subscribe to the NetPages mailing list by sending an e-mail message to np-list@aldea.com requesting to be added to either the electronic mailing list (be sure to include your e-mail address) or the hard-copy mailing list (be sure to include your mailing address). 7. How do I remove my name? Just send e-mail to np-drop@aldea.com requesting to be removed, and we'll take you out of the next edition. Your request to be removed will be verified so you can't be removed involuntarily from NetPages. The bottom line is you're in control. 8. What's in the yellow pages? Just like the phone book, the yellow pages section of NetPages provides a listing of business resources organized by category. All businesses listed in the yellow pages can be contacted via the Internet in some manner, either by e-mail, FTP, Gopher, or Mosaic. Traditional contact methods such as phone numbers can also be listed. Yellow pages advertisements range from simple line listings to full page ads with graphics just like the phone book. 9. Why would I want to list in the yellow pages? Everyone is familiar with phone book and has used the yellow pages, it's a consumer habit. People who consult the phone book yellow pages contact the organization they are looking at almost 83% of the time. The concept of the yellow pages is transferable to the Internet environment. Just like the phone book, NetPages will provide an easy to use, one stop guide to the business resources available on the Internet. By advertising in the NetPages you can open vast new markets to your business and expand into the global marketplace. The best thing about the yellow pages section in NetPages is that advertising is reasonably priced and your advertisement will potentially be seen by millions. 10. How do I list my resource or business in the Yellow Pages? Yellow page advertisements come in many sizes ranging from a single bold line listing to a full page advertisement that may contain line art. Current yellow pages options include bold line listings, quarter pages, half pages either vertical or horizontal and full pages.
