Brief EFF Statement on Rep. Eshoo's Online Parental Control Bill ============================================================================= Mar. 14, 1996 Contact: Mike Godwin, Staff Counsel mnemonic@eff.org +1 415 436 3339 The bill introduced Mar. 14, 1996, by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) to amend the unconstitutional and ineffective Communications Decency Amendment is a sign that Congress is increasingly aware of the grave problems with the current law. Although EFF cannot endorse this particular legislative language, we anticipate that the introduction of this bill will have a positive effect -- Rep. Eshoo's leadership in raising these questions about the CDA will, we hope, inspire renewed public discussion about the appropriate legal and constitutional framework for protecting both our children and our rights. *********
