Let's start to get some control over our government!
Let's start to get control on both a state and national level.

How can we start to do that?  Here is a way. It is called the NPAT.

The NPAT or National Political Awareness Test was given to all
candidates for federal office in the the 1992 Geneeral Election.

The NPAT was very carefully designed by two nationally known experts
in the fields of politics and survey design. Dr. Henry Kenski of the
University of Arizona, and Dr. Benjamin Barber of Rutgers
University. The categories conform to the issues most important to a
majority of Americans, and every care was taken to assure that the
NPAT was tough, pertinent, and scrupulously fair.

While all 1500 candidates running for the House and Senate were
given the NPAT and the majority took the test, only 30% of those
members currently serving in Congress were willing to participate.
The majority of incumbents, both Democrat and Republican, refused to
answer the issue questionnaire. And that includes President Clinton.

SMOKER is now starting a campaign to get all political candidates to
take the NPAT and also on the State level, let's get the NPAT
rolling here in Oklahoma and let's get our State's Congressmen,
Representatives and all future candidates to take this excellent
test so we can begin to know where they stand.

It should stop lots of these mud slinging contests we see so much of
because then all the candidates have to do is to publish their
opponents NPAT score on any given question during a campaign and we
know where they stand! We all know what PAC's they get their money
from. "Steve the Tax Man Lewis" type ads won't work any more because
with the NPAT we learn quickly and concisely both before and after
the fact how Steve or Tom or Dick or Harry voted on tax matters or
almost any other kind of issues. It's adoption and use by all
candidates and incumbents should be a prerequisite for filing for
political office. It's a test they can't fail or falsify! That is
precluded by the very fact that there is no failing or passing
grades on the test except in the eyes of the voters. The NPAT is a
giant step forward towards regaining control of our government, both
on state and federal levels. Let's get it, and let's go for it.

I am proud to say that SMOKER is in the forefront in getting this
test in the hands of the politicians and getting them to take it and
getting government back in the hands of the people in an intelligent
and democratic and fair way.
